About Bob

Bob Secor earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of the Pacific in 1971. After instructing at Columbia College and CSU Stanislaus, he completed his Master of Music degree at Sacramento State in 1996. His longest teaching engagement was at San Juaquin Delta College where he directed the Night Jazz Band and taught several courses including Jazz History and Improvisation. A keyboardist by trade, Bob has a propensity for all Jazz instruments and will often entertain crowds by playing the piano and trumpet at the same time.

Recorded at NACNUD SOUND in Lodi, California, "The Bob Secor Big Band Visits Capitola and Outlying Areas" is the latest album to showcase ALL ORIGINAL compositions. Finished in December, 2020, this CD features the 6-movement "Capitola Suite", a brand new 'Jazz Space Opera', "The Search for a New Planet", and bonus tracks featuring Bay Area trumpet legend Ed Morrison and his premiere Silicon Valley Big Band, 'A Touch of Brass'.
